Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of mghnasiri.github.io and all subdomains and project pages hosted at that origin (together, the "Site"). The Site is the personal academic portfolio of Mohammad G. Nasiri, hosted on GitHub Pages, and is offered free of charge for educational and informational purposes. By accessing the Site, you agree to these Terms.
Purpose of the Site
The Site exists to publish:
- An academic CV and biographical information.
- Descriptions of personal and academic research projects.
- Daily-updated outputs of public data-science projects (notably the NHL Goal Predictor and the PORID operations-research dashboard).
- Articles, methodology pages, and supporting documentation related to those projects.
Content on the Site is provided for educational, informational, and entertainment purposes only. It is not intended to substitute for professional advice in any field — medical, legal, financial, or otherwise.
No betting or financial advice
The NHL Goal Predictor and any other prediction-related content on the Site are not betting advice, financial advice, or investment guidance. Probability estimates are model outputs that may be wrong. The Site does not account for sportsbook margin (vig), bankroll variance, or any decision-making framework appropriate for wagering.
Any decision to place bets, make purchases, or take financial action based on content from the Site is solely your own responsibility, taken at your own risk. Where sports wagering is illegal in your jurisdiction, you must not use the Site's predictions for that purpose.

No warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator disclaims all warranties including, without limitation:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- Warranties that the Site will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
- Warranties that predictions, statistics, or any data on the Site will be accurate, complete, or current.
- Warranties that defects will be corrected or that the Site is free of viruses or other harmful components.
Project outputs that depend on third-party APIs (the NHL Stats API, The Odds API, Google services, and others) may be unavailable or inaccurate when those upstream services are unavailable, throttled, or change their data formats. The operator does not guarantee continuous access to any specific feature.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall the Site operator be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from:
- Your access to or use of, or inability to use, the Site.
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the Site, including any defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of other users or third parties.
- Any reliance on predictions, statistics, or other content obtained from the Site, including any decision to place a bet, fantasy-sports lineup choice, academic citation, or other action.
- Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.
Intellectual property
Site content. Articles, methodology pages, narrative text, and original analysis published on the Site are © 2026 Mohammad G. Nasiri unless otherwise noted. You may quote short excerpts with attribution under standard fair use / fair dealing principles. Substantial reproduction requires permission.
Source code. Source code for the Site and its projects is published in public GitHub repositories under the licence specified in each repository's LICENSE file (typically the MIT License). The licence in the repository governs reuse of the code itself, separate from the content rights above.
Data outputs. Daily prediction JSON files, archive results, and other generated data files in the project repositories are made available under the same licence as the source code. They are public; you are free to use them, with the disclaimers in these Terms attached.
Third-party content. NHL team names, player names, league branding, and statistical data sourced from the NHL Stats API are property of the National Hockey League and its respective rights holders. The Tim Hortons Hockey Challenge name is the property of Tim Hortons. The Site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NHL, any NHL team, Tim Hortons, or any sportsbook. Use of these names on the Site is for descriptive and editorial purposes only.
Acceptable use
By accessing the Site you agree not to:
- Use automated tools to scrape the Site at a rate that interferes with normal operation. The site's prediction JSON files are public and small; reasonable polling for personal use is fine. Aggressive scraping is not.
- Attempt to circumvent any technical measures the Site uses to protect its infrastructure or third-party services.
- Reproduce Site content in ways that misrepresent its source, falsely attribute opinions, or imply endorsement that does not exist.
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose, including in jurisdictions where any specific feature (e.g. sports betting analysis) is illegal.
Third-party links and services
The Site links to external websites and embeds content from third-party services (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, JSDelivr, GitHub, sportsbook data providers, and others). The operator does not control these services and is not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms of service. Visiting linked external sites is at your own risk and is governed by those sites' policies.
Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated at any time to reflect changes to the Site, applicable law, or third-party services. The "last updated" date above indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Where a substantive change materially affects your rights, the change will be highlighted on the Site's homepage where reasonably possible.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec, except where local consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction grants you alternative venue rights that cannot be waived.
